Dildos and Dongs Buyers Guide

Dong’s and Dildos are phallic-shaped toys designed to deliver mind-blowing vaginal, anal, and oral stimulation. These toys are typically designed for insertion, to mimic traditional intercourse, but can give tantalizing pleasure to all parts of the body and are perfect for either solo use, or for exploration with a partner. Whether you’re a sex toy expert or just a beginner, the world of Dongs and Dildos can be quite a large one (pun intended), so here’s our all-in-one guide that takes you on a journey to understand all things dildo. From size, materials, design, and just the little extras, use this guide to gain a better understanding of the huge range of dildo toys available and see what sensual delights you might be adding to your cart.

Size

Dildo toys are usually measured in two separate ways; length and width (girth), the length refers to how long the toy is (from tip to base), and the girth is usually the circumference or diameter, but it’s important to not mix up the two, as size really does matter! You don’t want a toy that is too small, and just doesn’t hit the spot. Just like you don’t want a toy that’s too large and sits in your draw collecting dust.

Dildo size guide

Our bodies are all different, so if you’re looking for your first dildo toy then there’s no point in telling you exactly what size to look for, but there are things you can look at yourself to understand the size you might want. Firstly, you can experiment with how many fingers you can comfortably fit and compare that with the girth of a toy. When it comes to length, if you’re unsure about what you can and can’t take, and if it’s for vaginal insertion, keep in mind that the vagina does extend to about 5 to 7 inches when aroused, and that can be a great starting point. If you do find the length is too much you can always stop where it’s comfortable rather than taking it all. If you use toys already, then measure what you like the most, or hell, measure your partner! It’s important to understand that sometimes bigger is not always better, we recommend starting smaller and working your way up. Stretching is pleasurable, tearing is not!

Materials

Silicone

Silicone dildo toys tend to be the most popular choice among buyers, being hypoallergenic, seamless, and an easy to clean no fuss toy. Silicone dongs can be firm and hard, or have a natural squish feel to them, much like the real thing. Typically, more realistic dongs will come in materials that are the cousin of silicone, such as TPE and TPR (Thermoplastic elastomers), and CyberSkin and UltraSkyn models. This selection is also usually in the more affordable price range too, but to maintain a silicone dong it is important to only use water based lubes. Two silicones don’t make a right, and will leave you with a less than desirable toy.

Glass

Although when you first think of glass anywhere near your genitals it might, understandably, conjure feelings of apprehension, the reality is that glass toys can open the door to a whole new meaning of pleasure. Glass dildo toys are renowned for being super sleek and easy to insert, as well as super easy to control, making them great for anal play. Glass is also super hygienic as the material is non porous, and is compatible with all kinds of lube, especially silicone which lasts significantly longer. The added bonus of glass toys is that they usually come in beautiful patterns and designs, which other toys might not feature.

Stainless Steel

Very similar to glass toys, stainless steel dong toys are very hygienic, smooth and sleek, and can be used with any kind of lube. They are also perfect for temperature play as the material can be heated up to mimic human warmth, or even cooled down for an icy twist. This material of toy does tend to be more expensive or a little harder to find than silicone and glass dongs, but looking for them certainly does pay off!
