Casual Sales Assistant Important Information

Wages:

Casual Sales Staff are paid as per the General Retail Industry Award at the commencing L3 basic rate of $34.48 per hr. Penalty rates are paid for evening, weekend and public holidays, e.g. Sunday rate is $48.27 per hr.

Hours:

Although not guaranteed hours, staff are generally rostered every week and typically work between 5 to 15hrs per week. Casual sales staff most frequently work evenings & weekends although day shifts are also worked. The days and hours worked vary from week to week. Opens may be required from 7.30am and closes may see staff rostered until 12.30am (30mins past midnight). Preference will be given to those staff who are available to work the majority of Be Daring’s trading hours.

1. IMPORTANT: Applicants must be available to work any (or the majority) of Be Daring trading hours. Staff are emailed rosters two (2) weeks in advance. Staff are not required to work every evening or every weekend but if you are not reasonably available to be rostered the majority of Be Daring trading hours – You should NOT apply for this position.

The position is casual with hours ranging each week from around 5hrs to 15hrs. Staff are generally given rostered hours every week, filling shifts not worked by management and filling in for personal and annual leave as well as being rostered for busy periods. If you are seeking more hours or a permanent position – You should NOT apply for this position.

The job involves the sale of sexual material. If you, your partner, or your family are uncomfortable with this – You should NOT apply for this position.

As an adult shop, we also sell smoking paraphernalia for legal use including pipes (all products are legal for sale). If you are uncomfortable with this – You should not apply for this position.

If you are uncomfortable being photographed for promotions including Be Daring social media – You should NOT apply for this position

Staff frequently work by themselves at night with some shifts finishing at midnight. If you are uncomfortable with this – You should NOT apply for this position.

The position requires frequent computer use. Programs will be taught but a basic level of MS Windows functions is essential. If you do not have reasonable keyboard skills – You should NOT apply for this position.

Shifts finish between 10pm – 12am. (closing varies between stores) It is not possible to get public transport currently. If you do not have your own reliable transport – You should NOT apply for this position.

Staff do get breaks as per the award but are unable to leave the store to take cigarette / vape breaks as this would mean closing the store to do so. If you are unable to work an 8-hour shift without a cigarette / vape break – You should NOT apply for this position.
